Gratitude with a Side of Gravy: Giving Thanks This Thanksgiving

Posted on November 25, 2024 by Megan Hamlin

Torx Reflects Back

Another year has (almost) come and gone. Our team is reflecting and giving thanks this Thanksgiving!

First and foremost, we are thankful for our awesome clients, who choose us to make all their advertising dreams come true. We know there is some steep competition in Richmond, so THANK YOU for partnering with us.

Secondly, we are thankful for our wonderful team at Torx. We all look forward to coming to work every day and spending time with individuals who make not just the days but our lives more fun! We are a quirky bunch of nerds, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Keep reading to see what each team member is thankful for specifically. From the heartwarming to the silly, we are thankful for many things!

Chris Gives Thanks

1

Fur Babies

Our two fur babies, Archie and Baxter, are the heart of our home. Their unconditional love, mischievous ways, and unique personalities bring us endless joy.

2

ChatGPT

The “WOW!” moments I’ve experienced with ChatGPT this past year rival the awe I felt when I first discovered the Internet itself. (Did ChatGPT write that previous statement? You’ll never know!!!)

3

Severance Season 2

I’m thankful that this show is getting a second season. Waffle parties for everyone!!!

4

Modern Broadband Speeds

Today’s lightning-fast and sometimes almost instant broadband speeds are a far cry from the symphony of screeches, sputtering static, and gargling nonsense associated with the dial-up dark ages.

5

Country Style Donuts

I’m just a boy standing in front of a salad, asking it to be a donut.

This year, I’m thankful for the great team we’ve been continuing to build this year at Torx. Our team is easily the most talented, most cohesive group of dedicated team members we’ve ever had.🥰

I’m also thankful for the opportunities that we have here in Hawaii to get involved with environmentally-focused nonprofit organizations. We recently began volunteering with Hawaii Wildlife Fund to pick up marine debris on some of the most polluted beaches in the world. It’s sad to see how much pollution is floating in our oceans, but that only drives our determination to work harder.

Finally, I’m thankful that the 2024 election is over. Results aside, I’m just glad that all of the news coverage and general focus on it is over.

Now we can all get back to focusing on a more important (and timeless) debate: Is it called “stuffing” or “dressing”??!!

2024 – What a year! I was fortunate to travel often. I visited the beach several times (my happy place), Raleigh to see my college roomie, Nashville for the first time #Broadway, and New York City (hello, Times Square). I celebrated two years of marriage by stuffing my face at 21 Spoons. But the most exciting thing in 2024 was getting my corgi puppy! Her name is Meeko, and she’s perfect (even though she poops an insane amount!).

I’m also thankful for my upcoming time off in December, when I will visit my family in Pennsylvania. There’s nothing like home-cooked meals by your mom, Secret Santa gift exchanges, and quality time with the ones you love. Plus, there’s a better chance of a White Christmas in Pennsylvania than in Virginia, and a White Christmas makes the day more magical!

Lastly, I’m also thankful for a few not-so-serious things like streaming services that allow me to rot on the couch eating my favorite snacks while watching great TV, Celtic music (this music makes my heart happy), Taco Bell chalupas, leggings, and yummy coffee drinks.

I also can’t forget my cat, Abu.

Madde Gives Thanks

This Thanksgiving, I’m filled with gratitude for so many blessings, big and small. First and foremost, my husband and I are thrilled to have bought our very first home—a place to make memories and have family gatherings that will always keep us busy with my DIY dream projects. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, we’re also expecting our first child this December! We’re eagerly awaiting the little one’s arrival and preparing for all the sleepless nights, diaper changes, and tiny socks that mysteriously disappear.

Through all of these milestones, I’m incredibly thankful for the love and support that surround us. I’m also thankful for my job here at Torx, my amazing coworkers, and the wonderful clients I get to work with. Their support and positivity make each day brighter, a little bit easier, and every success that much sweeter.

As we count our blessings, I know this holiday season will be extra special. And with the baby on the way, I’m just hoping that when I’m asked what I’m thankful for next year, I don’t have to list “sleeping through the night” as a distant memory!

Speaking of the holiday season…I may or may not have already started decorating for Christmas. It’s never too early for twinkling lights, right? The baby’s not here yet, but at least the Christmas spirit is in full swing — just don’t ask me how early I put my tree up.
